Introduction to French Wine In South West From Le Clos Du Breil
Introduction to French Wine In South West From Le Clos Du Breil
Nov 04, 2020

The first wines of the estate were produced in 1850. The estate was then in mixed farming and remained so until the early 2000s. It was in 1994 that the first wines of Clos du Breil were bottled by Nadine and Jean Vergniaud.

Today the estate is exclusively dedicated to the production of quality wine. In 2009, Yann Vergniaud joined his parents. The vineyard has been restructured with a systematic search for the best terroirs in order to offer the most complete possible selection of parcels for each of our vintages, and we now focus our production mainly on respecting our environment by using exclusively an intercept to weed between the vines and the hoeing technique for working the soil. We have chosen to plant grape varieties that are not very prominent in our appellation but which flourish remarkably on our terroirs, namely Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec.

Beautiful pale yellow color with pretty green reflections. The nose is marked by freshness, with notes of white flesh fruits. On the palate we find the freshness of the nose, with a lively wine, but the ageing on fine lees brings back fat and volume accompanied by notes of peach. Beautiful, lively and elegant finish.

Ageing Potential: 2 years

Culinary Recommendation: Serve at 11-13 ° C. Good match with Fish, Crustaceans, Goat cheese, Poached oysters and Stuffed squid.

Le Clos Du Breil, AOP Cotes de Bergerac Lei Peires, 2015

The "Lei Peires" has an elegant dark red color. The nose is intense; fragrances of wood and vanilla dominate. If you let the wine breathe a little, wonderful aromas of ripe fruit, especially cherry and blackberry, develop. On the palate, the wine remains supple and thick with silky tannins until the finish.

A beautiful wine that lovers of young wines can taste today, but due to its structure it can easily be stored for several years.
