DOMAINE JEAN FÉRY & FILS is a family-run winery located in the beautiful village of Échevronne between Beaune and Nuits-Saint- Georges. The vineyards span over 14 hectares (34 acres) from the north to the south of Burgundy in famous appellations.  The estate manages vineyards in many different villages in Burgundy, representing a genuine mosaic of climats over a surface of 14 hectares (34 acres).

Jean-Louis took over his parents' estate in 1988 and made his childhood dream come true: providing the family estate with the means to develop further by performing the necessary construction work and investments while purchasing new vineyards. He now dedicates all his time to the vineyards.

Jean Lous Féry belief in organic viticulture and wine making in order to respect and preserve the Burgundy heritage.

The vineyards are farmed according the principles of organic farming (they have been certified by ECOCERT since 2011), which requires a great deal of dedication and physical labor. Jean-Louis organizes the work of the laborers in every plot of the estate all year long.

Jean Lous Féry unwavering love for Burgundy’s terroirs leads him to constantly acquire new vineyards in order to enrich the estate’s range of growing areas... and to give everyone pleasure.

The estate uses oak barrels with 50% new oak and a malolactic fermentation process for white wines. For the red wines, symbiotic yeasts are used to add complexity to the grape juice before they go through malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. The whites wines are filtered but red wines are not.

The estate is now in the hands of Jean-Louis’s sons, Frédéric and Laurent Féry.

Jean Fery & Fil Savigny Les Beaune "Ez Connardises" 2018 $68

The village of Savigny-lès-Beaune touches, on the north side, the town of Beaune (as its name indicates: “lès” signifies “near to”). Its vineyard is one of the oldest of the Côte d’Or: situated on a Roman road linking Langres to Besançon, it belonged to prestigious abbeys and bishops, to the Dukes of Burgundy, to the Knights of Malta, to powerful lords.

The terroir of Savigny gives white wines quite mineral. It gives mellow wines which makes it balanced and strong. On the nose, the aromas are similar to exotic fruits and hawthorn flowers. Constant mouth with a beautiful persistence. Wine generally mineral and end accessible even young.

Cortons are reputed since the XVIIIth Century and known to travel easily and to keep for a long time. In 1855, in his famous Histoire et Statistique de la Vigne et des Grands vins de la Côte d’Or (History and Statistics of the Vines and Great Wines of the Côte d’Or), Doctor Lavalle specified that they need to be kept a few years before tasting; they then are revealed as «frank and mellow » with « a bouquet of remarkable finesse, while conserving body and warmth... Perfect wines, worthy of being offered to the most refined gourmets and served at the most solemn of occasions”. And he distinguishes Corton les Chaumes amongst the “outstanding” climates of Corton.

Tasting between 5 and 25 years depending on specific vintage and personal taste.
The aroma remains dominated by aromas of blackcurrant and cherry, but aromas of leather and truffle will begin to emerge as it ages.
