Sommelier's Notes

The Art of Champagne Elegance – A Remarkable 2016 Vintage

Perrier-Jouët Belle Époque Brut 2016 is a distinguished prestige cuvée that embodies the Maison's celebrated floral elegance, artistic heritage and exceptional Chardonnay craftsmanship.

The 2016 growing season presented challenges early in the year, but a warm, dry summer encouraged excellent ripening, producing grapes with a beautiful balance of natural acidity and fruit concentration.

The result is a vintage Champagne of remarkable harmony, combining the finesse of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs with the structure of Pinot Noir and the subtle roundness of Meunier.

After at least six years of cellar maturation, Belle Époque 2016 reveals delicate floral aromas, expressive white fruits, citrus freshness and a beautifully silky texture.

Its iconic bottle, decorated with Japanese white anemones originally designed by Art Nouveau master Émile Gallé, makes it instantly recognisable as one of Champagne's most elegant prestige cuvées.

Belle Époque 2016 is particularly appealing for its ability to combine freshness with maturity.

The Chardonnay-led blend delivers vibrant citrus, white flowers and mineral precision, while the Pinot Noir provides structure and depth without overpowering the wine's delicate character.

Compared with richer, more overtly toasty prestige Champagnes, Belle Époque emphasises finesse, floral purity and graceful balance.

An excellent choice for celebrations, fine dining and sophisticated gifting, especially for those who appreciate elegance rather than sheer intensity.

Why Choose the 2016 Vintage?

The warm, dry summer helped produce beautifully ripened grapes while retaining the freshness essential to great Champagne.

The resulting wine combines immediate drinking pleasure with the structure and acidity required for further bottle development.
